Bloggers for GOOD

July 11, 2012 in community, social practice, updates

I am excited to announce that the application I submitted for Bloggers for GOOD has been accepted! What does that mean? Well, I submitted an idea for a project (details below) and have a chance at being granted $1,500! $1,000 goes to an organization of my choosing, I receive a $500 prize, and I would be interviewed and my blog featured on GOOD! What an awesome opportunity, right? WISH ME LUCK!

Public voting will be taking place July 18 – August 1. I would really appreciate your vote!!

Q: HOW WILL YOU USE YOUR BLOG TO CREATE SOCIAL IMPACT?

A: I will use my blog to assist in educating my local community in social practice art. This past May I attended Open Engagement (www.openengagement.info) in Portland, OR and have been greatly inspired to bring what I have learned back to Rochester, NY. I plan on organizing meet-ups at Rochester Contemporary Art Center (www.rochestercontemporary.org) in the resource center Re:PLANT. I will report back on my blog recaps of the meetings, interviews, and facilitate discussions online. I look forward to further engaging my community as well as collaborating with other local groups and organizations.

Q: WHICH ORGANIZATION WILL RECEIVE THE GRANT PRIZE?

A: Rochester Contemporary Art Center
